These types of elements coalesce emulsified liquid particles in process lines where hydrocarbons are handled to form larger droplets that, by tearing the element, are sent to the outside of the filter to be discarded. These types of cartridges can also filter contaminants in particulate form.
They are used in the process lines of refineries, in petrochemical plants and in condenser flows where gas is produced, as well as in hydrocarbon distribution and sale facilities, to eliminate liquids that could emulsify in gasoline and jet fuel due to storage.
Coalescing type filter elements are designed and constructed to retain and filter moisture impurities contained in the process streams at the system inlet.
